Phyna has defeated Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing in a celebrity boxing match after weeks of public tension between the two entertainers. The reality TV star knocked Nkechi out in the fourth round at Chaos in the Ring in Lagos. Phyna was rewarded with ₦50 million, a championship belt and a new car after the fight on Thursday night in Lagos.
The clash came after Nkechi criticised Phyna publicly over her conduct and alleged involvement in online disputes. Phyna responded by sharing screenshots of their conversations and accusing the actress of targeting her despite their limited interaction. Their exchange continued at promotional events, including a heated September 29 press conference where the two women had to be separated. When they finally met in the ring on October 1, Phyna used her speed and movement before dropping Nkechi in the fourth round. The bout was the first female celebrity boxing contest under Balmoral Promotions’ Chaos in the Ring series on Thursday night.
The win also gave Phyna another reason to celebrate October 2, the date she won Big Brother Naija’s Level Up season in 2022. In an Instagram post, she described the date as special and said the boxing victory showed there was more to her than reality TV. She also dedicated the win to women who have been told they cannot succeed. After the fight, Phyna called out actress Etinosa Idemudia for another celebrity boxing match, and Etinosa accepted soon again.
