The second edition of the ASPIRE Educational Foundation STEM-Based Quiz Competition for Secondary Schools has successfully concluded, with a winner emerging.
The competition, which was keenly contested by schools from the six Local Government Areas under the old Ikom and Obubra divisions in the Central Senatorial District of Cross River State—Abi, Boki, Etung, Ikom, Obubra, and Yakurr—progressed from the quarterfinals through the semifinals to the grand finale.
At the end of the competition, Enoghi Comprehensive Secondary School, Ikom emerged overall winner, scoring a total of 28 points. The school went home with the star prize of One Hundred Thousand Naira (₦100,000), while all four contestants were automatically enrolled in the ASPIRE Foundation scholarship scheme. Government Technical College, Obubra finished in second place with 26 points and received a cash prize of Seventy Thousand Naira (₦70,000).
In addition, a number of other students who excelled in both the preliminary stages and at the final of the competition were selected for the ASPIRE Scholarship Scheme.
The grand finale was attended by the Chairman and Founder of Aspire Educational Foundation, Engr. Kasi Usani, alongside members of the Foundation’s executive team. In his address, Engr. Usani emphasised the importance of persistence in the acquisition of knowledge and skills, as well as the pursuit of excellence—not only in academics but in all aspects of life. He noted that consistent practice of these values, alongside the core principles embedded in the ASPIRE acronym, is essential for achieving genuine and lasting success. According to him, such success empowers individuals to inspire and support the next generation, thereby contributing to the pyramid of human capital development that is vital for national development.
The event also drew dignitaries from the government and education sectors. The Chairman of Yakurr Local Government Area, who doubles as the Chairman of Chairmen in Cross River State, was represented by the Supervisor for Education in Yakurr LGA, Mr. Godwin Eko. He commended the drive, zeal, and commitment demonstrated by the foundation in the pursuit of its objectives and encouraged the organisation to identify development drivers for partnerships, while deepening engagement with government to attract broader external support.
Similarly, Mrs. Caroline Okongor, who represented the Cross River State Commissioner for Education, Senator Stephen Odey, applauded the foundation for the consistency of its education-driven initiatives and stressed the need for synergy and broader partnerships to further strengthen the foundation’s impact.
